Join the 2Good2Toss Network
Thanks for your interest in 2good2toss.com!
We hope to expand the network across Washington!
The following are common questions about joining 2good2toss.com:
I live in Seattle or King County - can I join?
Where is Seattle/King County's link?
Anyone can browse for listings, but only members of participating jurisdictions can post listings to the site. Unfortunately, Seattle/King County chose not to participate in the 2good2toss.com website so you cannot post a listing. However, they have their own online materials exchange at: metrokc.gov/dnrp/swd/exchange/index.asp.
Another option is Craigslist, which has a very active Seattle site: www.seattle.craigslist.org. The For Sale section is in the middle of the page.
UsedSeattle.com is a new site and also a good option.
I live in [Anyplace, WA] how do we join?
Ecology funded the start-up costs to get the site off the ground, and each participating municipality paid the web site developer a one-time set-up fee for their exchange on the site and then pays an annual subscription fee to have the site maintained. Municipalities (cities, counties, or a combined city/county) can join at any time. It is also possible for another entity to host a site although that hasn't been done in Washington yet. The costs are minimal and the return in public appreciation and landfill diversion rates are generally high.
To find out more information on how your community can join, please contact the project coordinator at maum461@ecy.wa.gov or 360.407.6398.
I live in another state - How do we get one started here?
iWasteNot Systems developed our online materials exchange network and has developed several others in the US and Canada. Click here for a map. They have all the information you are looking for related to how to get started on their website. They are a family business and great to work with.
In Washington, the site development was funded through our agency. Since then, local governments have funded their individual sites under the overall 2good2toss.com umbrella and the agency provides state coordination. There are many ways to get your site funded, however. iWasteNot will be able to discuss the examples they've seen.
Good luck and thanks for choosing to reuse!
